Micah has been cited as the toughest defender Manchester United striker Carlos Tevez has faced in the Premier League, with the diminutive Argentina international hailing the 20-year old’s strength and speed.
Having moved to England in 2006 when he joined West Ham United, Tevez has gone on to establish himself as one of the most complete strikers in the top-flight, first helping The Hammers to avoid relegation before moving to Old Trafford.
The 25-year old helped the Red Devils to Premier League and Champions League glory last term, and while reaffirming his determination to extend his spell at the club when his loan deal expires in the summer, he also expressed his admiration for the City youngster.
“There are many superb defenders but Micah Richards at Manchester City has given me the hardest match in England. He is big, fast, strong and very hard to beat,” he said.
The defender, who is aiming to fight his way back into Fabio Capello’s England plans, was humble in his response to the praise, however.
“It’s nice to hear other players saying positive things about you, but I’m under no illusions,” Micah told MicahRichards.com.
“I’ve still got a lot of things to improve, but hopefully over the coming seasons I can work on them and help City to win some silverware.”
Micah is in line to return to return to Mark Hughes’ starting line-up after recovering from the hamstring strain that has ruled him out in recent weeks.
