Micah was among the scorers as Manchester City eased to a 5-0 victory over Notts County in the FA Cup.

Having held their Premier League opponents to a 1-1 draw in the original fixture, Notts County set out to press their opponents early on.

Roberto Mancini paid testament to the danger County posed by selecting a strong starting 11, and it appeared to be a wise choice as the visitors began the game in lively fashion, Richard Ravenhill shooting going close with an early effort before Joe Hart collected.

City seemed to be affected by nerves in the opening stages, though Pablo Zabaleta’s looping cross threatened to go in before it landed squarely on the roof of the net.

The away side, on the other hand, looked unaffected by the cold and blustery afternoon at the City of Manchester and Karl Hawley almost put his side ahead with a superb curling effort which beat Hart only for the ball to rebound off the inside of the post.

The near-miss kick started City’s play, and a fine burst forward by Micah down the right flank saw the defender pick out Edin Dzeko with an inch-perfect cross, only for the striker to head just over the bar.

With Notts County still posing a threat to City’s defence, and to the relief of the home fans in the stadium, the hosts finally grabbed a goal. David Silva’s corner found its way to Patrick Vieira, and the Frenchman duly headed home to make it 1-0.

Although they were on course, Mancini will have been keen to see more from his men to put daylight between the two sides, and Micah had to be alert to the danger in the first few minutes of the second half as Notts County pushed forward.

City did grab a second before too long in a move not too dissimilar to the opener, another corner being met by Vieira’s head to make it 2-0.

Mancini was still looking for more, however, and introduced Carlos Tevez to proceedings, and the Argentina international duly fired in a low drive that was tipped round the post.

The League One side hadn’t given up all hope and Alan Gow saw a well-aimed volley tipped over superbly by Hart, before City added a third.

Tevez was sent clean through and, having evaded one defender and Notts County’s stopper, slotted the ball home to make it 3-0 and put the game beyond doubt.

That fact also seemed to reach the minds of the visiting side who duly collapsed, allowing Dzeko to add a fourth after fine work by Tevez who eventually picked out his strike partner with a wonderful chip.

And there was enough time for Micah to add to his tally for the season as he controlled a loose ball in the box before smashing the ball left-footed into the back of the net to make it 5-0, adding gloss to an otherwise professional performance by the Eastlanders.
