Villa’s winless run extended to 16 games as League Two’s Wycombe Wanderers fought back from a goal down – scored by Micah – to claim a 1-1 draw and with it a replay in the FA Cup third round.
Micah was moved to right back as Remi Garde sought a much-needed confidence boost, and it was he who put the visitors ahead, firing low to the left of Wycombe’s goal to make it 1-0.
Despite Villa’s dominance, though, Wycombe were level five minutes after half-time through Joe Jacobsen’s penalty. Ashley Westwood was adjudged to have fouled Matt Bloomfield, and Jacobsen stepped up to convert the spot-kick.
Rudy Gestede struck the bar late on, but Wycombe held on for the right to a reply, whilst for Garde and his side, the search for a turnaround in their fortunes goes on.
