Micah has penned his latest blog update for the official Manchester City website as the squad continue their pre-season preparations in the United States.

In the latest edition, and having kept everyone posted on his eating habits during the camp, Micah felt it necessary to changes things up and put to one side his usual dish of chicken.

On a more serious note, the 22-year old also gave an insight into manager Roberto Mancini’s thinking ahead of the friendly with Portland – a game that City won 3-0.

Micah also highlighted the tremendous support the club has had from their fans in the US, with the friendly enjoying a lively atmosphere despite the absence of a host of first-teamers.

Finally, the defender also welcomed back good friend Joe Hart to the squad following the latter’s return from the World Cup and a short break which he cut short to get back into training for the new season.

I have started to get some stick for the fact that I eat chicken for every meal so I thought I would vary things a little bit yesterday and I had an omelette.

I thought I had done really well until Cookie – the cook not Garry – pointed out that in a way that was also a chicken since one had laid the eggs! Ha!

Any way we had a light training session and some heavy sleep before the Portland match and then prepared like we would for a Premier League game.

The boss held a meeting and told us how the Timbers might play and reminded us that the first game of the tour was really important in so many ways.

When we awoke on Saturday is was really cool but by kick off it was boiling hot so it was a hard ninety minutes especially as Portland made it tough and put themselves about really well.
