Micah training on US tour

Friday July 16, 2010Micah's US Tour Diary - Day 4

By Rhonda Richards | In US Pre-Season Tour

It’s day four of Manchester City’s US tour and Micah kept up his daily blog for the club’s official website with details of the squad’s own version of the X-Factor – and how he missed out!

As it the ritual during pre-season training camps, the new players involved – both signings and academy graduates – have a sing off. Micah was due to judge the competition alongside some of the backroom staff, Patrick Vieira and Shay Given.

However, the 22-year old slept through the showdown – something he puts down to the intensive training – missing a sultry victory by John Guidetti.

The players also enjoyed some retail therapy following another hard day of being put through their paces, and there’s plenty more to come.

Today I have to start with a confession! I missed the X-factor.

I was scheduled to be on the judging panel with some of the back room staff and Patrick Vieira and Shay Given but I fell asleep and no one woke me. I am blaming the coaches for the intensity of the training session earlier in the day!

Seriously though it was my fault and I have paid for it – literally – with a fine slapped on me by the lads. I apologise to the boys for missing it and I am told it was a great night.

Apparently, Chappie in his own hilarious style compared the event in his own inimitable style aided by a glamorous assistant and the judges had a hard time picking between Scott Kay, Ben Mee and John Guidetti.

There was even a sing off which was close with Guidetti taking the prize – and no he didn’t sing an Abba song.

Micah also took some time out to speak to City’s Chris Bailey on his thoughts ahead of the new season, how the players felt about the ongoing speculations about comings and goings at the City of Manchester Stadium and what the squad had planned for Craig Bellamy’s birthday.
