Micah will sit out England under-21s’ clash with Norway due to a recurring hamstring injury, and the 20-year old will also miss the match against France on Tuesday.

The right-back was substituted in the latter stages of Manchester City’s 1-0 win over Sunderland last weekend – a game in which Micah scored the winner – after he aggravated the problem.

Under-21s manager Stuart Pearce opted to call Micah up and the side’s medical staff have been working on getting him match fit to no avail, and he has now been officially ruled out.

Joining the youngster on the touchline is Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor, while Stoke City’s Ryan Shawcross and Wolves’ Sylvan Ebanks-Blake are already-confirmed absentees.

A Football Association spokesman said: “Both players arrived with injuries and they have not responded to treatment from the medical staff.
They have now been sent back to their respective clubs as a precautionary measure.”

Pearce was also hit by the loss of Tottenham Hotspur’s Aaron Lennon who was added to Fabio Capello’s senior side, coupled with the loss of Theo Walcott and Steven Taylor to injury.

City teammates Nedum Onouha and Joe Hart will represent the club, while Micah will work on being fit for the club’s clash with Arsenal at the City of Manchester stadium on 4 April.
