Micah and his Manchester City teammates continued their pre-season preparations as they flew to Germany for the Audi Cup and, in Wednesday night’s corker of a game, City put five past the mighty AC Milan as they secured a 5-3 win, with Micah getting on the score-sheet in the first-half.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side took the lead as two of City’s new boys, Jesus Navas and Stevan Jovetic combined, the latter tapping home after just 3 minutes. City were dominating their opponents and doubled their advantage soon after, a sublime pass from another new signing, Fernandinho, picking out Micah’s run and the right-back scored at the second attempt.
Fellow full-back Aleksander Kolarov grabbed a goal of his own as he cut a shot across goal and into the back of the net to make it 3-0, before a neat Edin Dzeko brace – the first a simple finish and the second a tidy control, turn and finish – putting Pellegrini’s men into an impressive five-goal lead.
The game wasn’t quite over, and Milan pulled three goals back to return the City side back down to earth. Stephan El Shaarawy grabbed a brace and Andrea Petagne added another to make the score-line slightly more respectable for the Italian side, though City held on for the win and will have been suitably buoyed by the performance.
City take on last season’s Champions League winners Bayern Munich later today.
In other news, the competition to win a Manchester City shirt signed by Micah has now closed, with over 1,100 entries. The winner will be announced shortly so stay tuned!
