Manchester City welcome Aris Thessaloniki to the City of Manchester stadium following the 0-0 draw in the Europa League last-32 first-leg, and they’ll be confident going into the clash following the 5-0 over Notts County in their previous outing.
Micah looks set to miss out after picking up a calf strain in training, news that was announced at the same time as it was revealed that Shay Given has been ruled out for three months.
Roberto Mancini wants silverware and the Europa League offers a solid chance of ending City’s search for a trophy, and the Italian will demand that his players reach the last-16 of the competition.
Both sides have had an indifferent few weeks, with City winning just two of
their last six games including the defeat to arch-rivals Manchester United.
Similarly, Aris have struggled for form in recent times and have just one win from their last seven games having struggled for goals away from home – they have, in fact, netted just five in 11 games on the road.
David Silva has undoubtedly been one of City’s best players this term and the Spaniard will be looked upon to unlock the Aris defence and guide the side through to the next round. Silva also moved to quash rumours he was
homesick, further music to the ears of the clubs’ fans.
Micah will miss out and he will be joined on the touchline by James Milner,
Nigel de Jong and Adam Johnson, though Mario Balotelli and Shaun Wright-Phillips should be available.
Micah and Shaun Wright-Phillips will be signing merchandise at the CityStore at the City of Manchester stadium on Friday 25th February between 1.30pm and 2.30pm.
