Manchester City cruised to 5-0 win over Fulham courtesy of a Yaya Toure hat trick to keep pace with leaders Chelsea at the Etihad.
Aleksandar Kolarov and James Milner saw early penalty shouts turned away, whilst Keiran Richardson saw his 20 yard effort fly just wide.
However City’s dominance in possession soon began to tell, and it was the hosts who went ahead. Alvaro Negredo was fouled and Yaya Toure stepped up to convert the spot-kick.
Soon after David Silva saw a chip cleared off the line, whilst Kolarov saw a shot rebound off the crossbar. City were the better side but Fulham weren’t lying down, and they went in at halftime just the single goal down.
Manuel Pellegrini’s side didn’t need long after the interval to grab a second, though. Fernando Amarobieta it was that dived in on Silva to give away another penalty, Toure firing home from the penalty spot for the second time to make it 2-0.
Fulham were visibly disheartened and City capitalised, Toure curling a sublime 25 yard shot home to make it 3-0.
Fernandinho grabbed a fourth with an equally good goal of his own, and Martin Dimichelis grabbed a fifth from point blank range as City kept up the heat at the top of the Premier League.
