Manchester City continued their fine start to the season with a 3-0 dismantling of Wigan Athletic, Sergio Aguero grabbing a hat-trick and becoming the second player in as many games to do so for Roberto Mancini’s men.

Micah played the full 90 minutes and was a constant menace down the right flank, whilst David Silva once again demonstrated his world class talents for the home side.

Adam Johnson went close with a curling effort early on, whilst Silva saw a low drive well saved minutes later.

However, the home faithful didn¹t have long to wait before the first goal went in, Silva’s brilliance in the Wigan box teeing Aguero up for a slotted finish to make it 1-0.

The visitors almost hit back immediately as a mix up between Joe Hart and Joleon Lescott allowed Franco Di Santo to break through, but he poked the ball wide.

City, though, weren’t about to let up and were soon handed a penalty as Silva was brought down, but Carlos Tevez’s weak penalty was easily saved.

Micah almost got in on the act, a through ball from Yaya Toure sending him through only for his chipped finish to rebound off the underside of the bar, whilst further attempts from Aguero, Toure and Silva narrowly evaded their target.

The opening exchanges of the second half were fairly tense from both sides, but the introduction of Samir Nasri changed that immediately as he made his presence felt.

A sublime ball from midfield sliced open Wigan’s defence and Aguero added the extras to make it 2-0, and it was to become three soon after.

It was Silva again who was the architect, weaving his way past three opposing players before laying off to Aguero who kept his composure and fired in the third to make it 3-0.

There was to be little other action of note as City closed the gae out bar a few final attempts, and the win maintains the side’s early charge at the top of the Premier League.
