Manchester City cruised into the FA Cup quarter-final with a 3-0 win over Aston Villa.
Micah started at right-back and was in fine form throughout, and the result was never really in doubt from the point that City grabbed the lead early on.
Aleksander Kolarov curled in a corner and with the Villa defence hesitant, Yaya Toure seized the opportunity to smash the ball into the back of the net to make it 1-0 after just five minutes.
Gabriel Agbonlahor – who was arguably the visitor’s biggest threat – made for an immediate response as he cut inside and curled the ball just wide.
City were looking comfortable as they controlled the midfield battle and it was 2-0 before long, with Mario Balotelli adding to his season tally with a fine finish.
Yaya Toure threaded the ball through Villa’s defence and the young Italian striker latched on to it before side-footing passed Brad Friedel, making it look easy in the process.
Again, the away side looked to pull an immediate goal back as Emile Heskey fired in on goal only for Joe Hart to parry clear, and from then until half-time as the game got scrappier as the hosts slowed the tempo.
Micah was enjoying his own duel with Agbonlahor down the right of City’s defence and the 22-year old was invariably coming out the better, but the tempo of the game remained indifferent with the home side sitting pretty.
And if Villa harboured any hopes of a late comeback, David Silva put them to the sword with a third for City.
A loose clearance fell to the skilful midfielder and he wasted no time in smashing the ball home, and it could be four minutes later as Kolarov missed the target by a yard.
There was still time for Carlos Tevez to get in on the action following his introduction but he saw two well-aimed shots saved by Friedel, whilst a late Jo effort was equally dealt with by the American stopper. However, the game was well won by that point and City advance to the next stage.
