Micah sent Manchester City into the semi-final of the FA Cup with a winning header, handing the side a 1-0 win over Reading and lining up a clash with arch-rivals Manchester United.
The 22-year old rose highest to meet David Silva’s cross and powered the ball into the back of the net after a tense encounter at the City of Manchester stadium.
Manchester City were sluggish in the early exchanges before a powerful drive by Shaun Wright-Phillips brought the fans to their feet with 20 minutes on the clock.
Wright-Phillips then found the side-netting with another effort, whilst Silva’s weak effort when the Spanish international was in a good position was safely parried.
The diminutive winger was in the thick of it in the first half and another shot went astray by inches, before the players trudged off following a largely frustrating 45 minutes.
Carlos Tevez went closest to breaking the deadlock when he flicked a shot goal-wards just after the break, only for the shot to be tipped wide of the post, and the Argentina international miscued another effort minutes later.
Yaya Toure was next up to test the water as his shot from a tight angle was saved and subsequently cleared from danger, whilst Micah’s head down was cleared before it reached the back of the net with just under half an hour left.
However, with 74 minutes on the clock the England defender wasn’t to be denied again. Silva’s curling cross found its man and Micah made sure he put the chance away, sending the crowd into raptures.
City immediately slowed down proceedings to seal the win, booking a mouth-watering last four clash with Premier League leaders Manchester United.
