Manchester City had to settle for a 2-2 draw away at Leicester City in the FA Cup third round, despite fielding a strong line-up.
The visiting support had barely settled in their seats when the Foxes grabbed the lead, debutant Sol Samba seizing on the short corner to stab home with just 45 seconds on the clock.
A Jack Hobbs header had Joe Hart worried for a second before the England stopper could parry clear, And Edin Dzeko must have been wondering whether he had joined the right club as he watched from the stands.
City were looking distinctly out of sorts, frustratingly so for Robert Mancini who shook his head on the touchline, but they were all level against the run of play after 22 minutes.
Jo set James Milner on the way and the former Aston Villa man slotted home from just inside the box, quelling the ‘Poznan’ celebration in the stands.
Carlos Tevez missed a decent chance from the edge of the box, whilst Abi’s shot had Hart at full stretch at the other end as both sides looked to gain the advantage.
Adam Johnson was then teed up by Jerome Boateng but the winger missed the target with the goal at his mercy eight yards out, though he was in the thick of it as City went a goal up.
A short corner was worked out to Milner, and the latter’s cross was tapped home by Tevez to make it 2-1 to the visitors.
A quick-fire start saw Lloyd Dyer beat Aleksandar Kolarov but he lashed his 25-yard shot wide, but Leicester were soon back level.
Paul Gallagher’s shot appeared to have been collected by Hart, but the stopper fumbled the ball which allowed Andy King to level proceedings.
Nigel De Jong had a chance to grab the win for City but he elected for placement rather than power and saw his shot from 10-yards saved, and a replay will follow at the City of Manchester Stadium as the Foxes held out for a well-earned draw.
