Fiorentina were denied a win in the first-leg of their Europa League last-16 clash as Seydou Keita scored late to give Roma away goal advantage.
The hosts started the game on the front foot and there was no surprise when they went ahead after 17 minutes. The in-form Mohamed Salah was once again impressing, slipping through Josip Illicic after a charge down the left flank. Illicic duly controlled and fired home left footed to make it 1-0.
Once ahead, Fiorentina eased off the gas slightly allowing Roma to carve several chances, but it wasn’t until the hour mark that the game flew back into life.
Roma were handed the chance to level from the spot as Juan Manuel Iturbe was judged to have been fouled by Neto, but he stopper atoned for the error by stepping up and palming away Adem Ljalic’s penalty.
However, 17 minutes later Keita found himself in space and was able to direct a corner home to make it 1-1, setting things up nicely for the second leg next Thursday.
