Roma fought back from behind to claim a 1-1 draw at the Stadio Artemio Franchi after Mario Gomez had given Vicenzo Montella’s side the lead.
Gomez continued his fine recent form to make it 1-0 after just 19 minutes. David Pizarro drilled in a shot, and Gomez instinctively stuck out his foot to direct the ball into the back of the net to grab his third goal in two games.
Roma felt a sense of injustice as they called for offside, but they turned that energy into a sustained period of pressure that eventually saw them level proceedings.
Radja Nainggolan went close with a header but Roma did manage to level just three minutes after half-time. Adem Ljajic it was who scored, taking one touch before firing home to make it 1-1.
There were sparse chances for either side after that, and they had to settle for a point apiece which left them adrift of their respective ambitions so far for the season.
