Micah sets the record straight

This week I jetted out to Tenerife for a mid-season training camp with the rest of the Manchester City squad, though I still had time to read with surprise my name linked with a move away from the club.

I was shocked to wake up and read in the newspapers that I have been linked with a move away from City, with speculation suggesting I could move to Wigan or Bolton in a £5 million deal.

These rumours are the first I’ve heard about it, and they’re utterly ludicrous. I’m as happy as happy comes at Manchester City, and I feel the club is now moving in the same direction I knew it would. On a personal level, playing for Manchester City can take me to next level, and I hope to stay here and win things.

I’m still away in Tenerife and it’s been a nice week. The weather is really good and team spirit has been really high. It’s been refreshing coming out here mid-season, and hopefully when we get back everyone will be raring to go and pick up where we left off with our last game against Wigan.

We’ve got Newcastle coming up next week in our next match – we don’t have a game this weekend as we got knocked out of the FA cup – so I think I’ll be going back to Leeds this weekend to visit my family and friends when I finish training at the weekend.

Nigel de Jong - New signing

Nigel de Jong - New signing

This week we also welcomed new signings Craig Bellamy and Nigel de Jong to the club, and I’m delighted with the additions to our squad. Making these types of signings can only send out a firm message about our intentions to climb the table and start winning things, and having played against both players I can testify to their quality. Craig is a handful to any defence and Nigel de Jong is very athletic, strong and is really good technically.

Rumours about possible signings continue and I still expect more arrivals; every day in the papers we’re being linked with all different types of players, but only time will tell. We have added three great player to our squad so far and things are only looking up for us as a club at the moment.

Finally, I’ve been really impressed by the amount of you that have entered the latest competition, where two lucky winners will win tickets to the Manchester City v Aston Villa game

I thought it would be a good idea to give you, the fans, the chance to meet the players and watch the game from the comfort of an executive box – it’s important to try give the fans back as they support us week in week out, so good luck to everybody!
