The transfer window is in full swing, with new signing Wayne Bridge already settling in to his new surroundings, and I’ve had a really good week as I build up to our match with Wigan.

I was gutted that the game with Portsmouth was called off on Saturday due to the pitch being frozen. We travelled all the way down there and I was looking forward to the match, but it was called off just to be safe. Every game I play in I try to put right anything I did wrong in the games before, which made it even more frustrating. Pompey away is never an easy game but I just felt the game being cancelled did us no favours at all.

Our new signing, Wayne Bridge, seems to be settling in really well. Obviously he already knows the likes of Shaun Wright-Philips through Chelsea, and me through England but I have been surprised to see how quickly he has settled in. It feels like he has been at the club a lot longer than he has, he looks really sharp in training and I think he will prove to be a great signing for us.

On Monday I invited a few of my teammates, friends and family around and had a film night. I like watching movies sometimes as it can act as a release and helps take my mind off things, and we all had a good laugh during what was a really funny night.

Fifa World Player of the Year - Cristiano Ronaldo

I wasn’t surprised to see Cristiano Ronaldo scoop the Fifa World Player of the Year award as he had a great season last year, scoring 42 goals in the process, and helping Manchester United win the league, Champions League and the World Club Championship. I’d like to congratulate him on winning it as it is every player’s dream to be named the best player in the world, especially when it’s voted by the players themselves.

As you’ll know from the article about Shaun Wright-Phillips’ charity auction at the City of Manchester a couple of weeks ago, I bought a Harley Davidson bike. I’m still waiting for it to be delivered to me as I had to get it converted into a three-wheeler as I’m not allowed to drive a two-wheeled bike – they’re deemed unsafe. I was more than happy to buy it as I knew every penny I spent went to the Education for the Children Foundation , which is a really good cause, and hopefully the money raised will go a long to helping transform a child’s life.

Wigan Athletic team mates celebrate scoring against City earlier in the season

We are playing Wigan this weekend at home, and my attentions have turned to making sure I’m ready for that. They beat us at the JJB Stadium early on in the season so I’m really looking forward to putting the record straight on Saturday.

They are a good team on a great run but that will put added pressure on them. Everyone is really hungry to play and it seems like the confidence around the training ground is certainly on the increase. We’re all hoping for a win and I am determined to contribute towards that.

  2. Micah, how’s your knee holding up? I’m 24 and have two creeky knees. I seem to keep straining ligaments when I play. What kind of regimen do the physio’s have you on to help maintain your knees?
