My Week So Far... 13

Micah hopes to be 100% fit for his next game

I’ve had a frustrating week watching the City squad from the touchlines, but the result and performance against Aston Villa is another sign of what we can do when we hit form.

To begin with, I’m still recovering from the injury I picked up against West Ham, though I’ve been working hard to test out my hamstring and make sure when I return I’m 100% fully fit.

I hate missing out on games, especially as we’re still in the hunt for a European place in the Premier League, but I also want to make sure I get rid of any niggling injuries and come back fully refreshed.

On a personal level, I’ve been happier with my performances over the last few weeks at right back. I’m starting to get my full confidence back, and enjoy the opportunities to get forward that the position gives me, but it takes a little bit of time to adjust from playing in the central defensive role.

Saying that however, I also want to keep on picking up my performances, and will be looking to do so as much as possible before the season finishes this term.

Our away form has still been poor in the league, but in contrast we look almost unbeatable at the City of Manchester stadium, and I think that when we do manage to string some good results together on the road, we’ll be a team to contend with.

It’s something that we’ve been working on in training, looking at the different factors involved and the different strategies we need to use when we’re not playing at home, and we’re all confident that the work will pay off.

Although it’s been an up-and-down season, we still could realistically finish in the top six or seven if we pick up some good results in the run-in, and we also believe we can go all the way in the Uefa Cup.

The other thing we have which we haven’t had for a while is strength in depth. Personally speaking, it’s good to have a bit of competition as it pushes you that bit harder in training, and it also means I can learn from other people around me.

We’ve got a massive few weeks coming up, and I hope to be involved as much as possible. Firstly, we face AaB Aalborg in Europe, which is a tie we go into confident we can win.

In between the two legs, we face Chelsea, who have really improved under Guus Hiddink, and we will need to all be on top of our game to take anything away from Stamford Bridge. If we can play like we did at Anfield against Liverpool we’ll be in with a shout, though, and we’ll perhaps be able to surprise a few people.

Just before I finish, I just wanted to mention the competition winners – Natalie Burton and Richard West – who joined my family and friends in the executive box for the match against Villa last week. The competitions are just a small way of thanking you all for the ongoing support you give me, and without you all it would be much harder to keep on improving my game, and I hope that Natalie and Richard enjoyed the day.

That’s all from me for now, but I’m interested to hear from you all as to whether you think we can go on to win the Uefa Cup, and also how high we can finish in the league. Leave your answers below and I’ll look forward to reading them over the next few days.

  7. I think that City can go all the way and win the UEFA cup. Hopefully the away form will get sorted out soon and we can safely finish in the top half of the table.
